The Food Buying Guide for Child Nutrition Programs (FBG) is a mobile application designed to assist Child Nutrition Program operators, food manufacturers, and other stakeholders in purchasing the correct amounts of foods for Child Nutrition meal programs. It is an essential resource for food yield information for all CNPs, enabling users to translate the amount of food purchased into the form after preparation that is served as part of the reimbursable meal.
With over 2,100 foods typically served in CNP settings, the FBG Mobile App is equipped with many time-saving features for users. It allows easy search and navigation of food yields, food yield comparisons, and even provides the option to create favorite foods lists. The application also enables users to determine the grains contribution and the amount to serve to provide a desired grains contribution for a grain product as listed on Exhibit A. Furthermore, it allows users to view completed Product Formulation Statements (PFS) and Recipe Analysis Workbooks (RAW) created and saved on the FBG Interactive Web Tool.
